True Blood has returned to the screens courtesy of cable HBO TV. Season 2 began showing on 14th June and has pulled in the biggest number of viewers since the finale of the Sopranos showed about 2 years ago ” some 3.7 million.

In the first episode there is a murder (the body being found in a detectives car), mystery to keep us all guessing as to who and why, and of course there is some sex too ” what more reason would a guy want to watch a programme than this?

From the very beginning of Season 1 I was really taken in by the way the characters relationships weave together and even more so because many of these characters are not human. Some are vampires, some are Weres, some are fairies. I do not remember the time when I saw a vampire getting along with humans and vice versa, but here we have just that.

Instead of hiding away the vampires and other various creatures in True Blood are very open and very normal.

Anyway, back to the murder. Seems that the murderer has a terribly vicious streak having pulled his or her victims heart from their chest. The victim having been left in what looks to be an agonizing scream.

At the beginning of Season 2 we find that Sookie Stackhouse, the female protagonist has learned about Jessica Hamby. Jessica has been brought up by Sookies former lover ” Bill Compton ” and he was forced to do so because he murdered another vampire whilst defending Sookie in an attack. She learns too that her uncle has passed away and left her an inheritance. This does not make her feel happy however, as this uncle was a paedophile.

Sookies brother Jason Stackhouse, meanwhile is getting himself more deeply involved with religion. This may not be so unusual but for the fact that up until recently he was a blood drinking womanizer with no real focus on life but to have fun and care less. Sookie though, is not happy with this and prefers the old Jason to the current one.

Besides all of this there are a number of twists and turns in the story of True Blood Season 2, but at the same time there a number of questions that are currently left unanswered:

1. Who is this lady called MaryAnn and why is she hanging around Bon Temps asking questions?

2. What is it that petrifies Sam Merlotte about this MaryAnn ” he is hiding something from his past, thats for sure.

3. Can Lafayette come out of his current situation as a prisoner of Eric Northman all in one piece?

4. Will Lafayette escape the confines of Eric Northman and will he escape intact and unhurt?

5. Will Jason Stackhouse continue with his religious fervor or will he return to being his true womanizing, blood drinking self?

So many things to think about and so many questions to be answered. Its best to book the television for Sunday evenings and make sure you can hook up to HBO TV too, otherwise you could be missing out. If thats not possible, do not fret. The True Blood Season 2 DVD will be out hopefully fairly soon. Ill be keeping you posted on that one and thats a promise!
