What are the advantages of spray painting your car with compressed air? To start out with, it could be a real money saver in the long run. Theres an investment needed in the initial purchase of the tools, but once youve it then you begin saving money on your projects from there on in. Other great advantage is youve more flexibility in the use of the compressed air. In nowadays day of age air pollution is a huge issue. Thus, the use of aerosol propellants are frowned upon. The best solution to this is the compressed air sprayer.
Frequently people shy away from utilising compressed air sprayers because they think they are too difficult. This is not the case. Once you get a bit practice, utilising them there’s no way you’ll want to go back to the aerosol spray.
The best paint to use in these sprayers is enamel, but say you add up an appropriate conditioner to the acrylic and latex paints then you could utilize them successfully as well. This would permit the paint to flow the right way through the tube as it thins it down.
Established your working area the right way. Whenever youre going to do various kind of spray-painting there’ll be a certain amount of over spray. Take all the correct safety precautions. Do your work in a well-ventilated area. Wear a mask for sanding. Be sure to wear goggles or rather gloves.
Once you are all done then you are ready to begin. You’ll want to grind or sand off any rust and corrosion or rough spots. Then you must make sure the car is utterly clean and dry before you start the application. For oil-based paints use mineral spirits, and for the latex ones soap and water would work fine, but rinse well.
If need be, prime the surface. Do your mixing of the paints and thinners youve chosen to apply. This could be a sloppy job, so protect the blending area with a drop cloth.
At present it’s time to switch on the air compressor. You want it to build up pressure while you’re preparing your paint. You’ll need a few of the air for priming and testing. If you look on the compressor, you should see a regulator. This’ll permit you to set the pressure you require for the sprayer. Say you dont do this then the air flow would fluctuate and you’ll end up with uneven spraying.
Tie the hose coupling to the sprayer. It’s significant you’ve an airtight seal so be sure it is attached tightly and wrap the join with some Teflon tape if you want.
If you follow the exact instructions that came with your original sprayer, it would walk you through each of the steps. To start with, practice the paint application on a different object. This way you would get the feel of managing the sprayer and be able to judge the proper consistency of the paint application.
