Just last year, Amazon released the Kindle, a revolutionary device with a sharp display and an elegant design lighter and smaller than most paperback books. It was very favorably received by critics and the common reader alike, but it looks like Amazon?s done it again with the new and improved version of Kindle.

The Kindle is a portable electronic reading device, in other words, users can download and read electronic books on-the-go. E-books are rapidly becoming popular and some have even sworn off reading paper and instead choose to read screens. The problem was that most portable devices didn’t have an adequate screen or interface to read e-books effectively, so people were limited to reading at home on their computer or laptop. The Kindle will solve all these problems.

Reading e-books on the high-resolution electronic paper display is a very easy task; the screen does a great job of stimulating an actual paper display. Best of all, the Kindle offers a 3G connection with no monthly fees or data plans so you can buy books right on your Kindle without the need for a computer.

The second Kindle was a vast improvement on an already worthy device. It has an even sharper display that boasts an amazing 16 shades of gray text and a longer battery life. But the two most distinct new features are the 3G connection mentioned above and a text-to-speech feature which allows the Kindle to actually read your books out loud, effectively turning any unprotected book into an audiobook.

The Kindle has an immense amount of content; an entire Amazon section is dedicated to it. Most Kindle books are $9.99 to download, but the prices vary with release date, popularity, and sales. The marketplace offers an impressive 250,000 books.

But the Kindle reads a wide range of other formats as well, like DOC, HTML, PRC, and MOBI. PDF files can even be formatted so they can be read on the Kindle. Amazon also offers newspaper and monthly magazine subscriptions that are synced to your Kindle automatically.

The second Kindle now sells for $359.00 on Amazon and you can find the original Kindle for around $275.00. The price may seem steep, but it?s definitely worth it for a lot of people. If you only dabble in reading every now and then, the Kindle might not be a great investment for you.

The original Kindle sells for $275.00 on Amazon and the second Kindle sells for about $359.00. It may seem a bit pricey but for some people it?s well worth it, though if you?re only an occasional reader, you might want to consider a cheaper alternative.

In 3500 B.C., the first books were made in Ancient Egypt by pounding papyrus with a hammer. We?ve come a long way and literature is always changing, especially now. Actual, tangible books are still popular and widely-used, but with new innovations like the Kindle, the pen and paper just might become obsolete.
