The Cure for Worry and Anxiety Often Lies Within

by Charles T.Winnbaker

If you suffer from a lot of worry and anxiety, you are not in solitude. We live in very hectic and anxious times, and it seems you can’t pick up the newspaper or turn on the TV without seeing and hearing about news that are worrisome. But if you suffer from undue stress and overwhelming emotions, you should take comfort in the fact that the cure for worry and anxiety often lies within yourself.

To fully get what this all means, think over your life. How many things there were that you were anxious about that just never occurred? Were you absolutely certain that you were going to get terrible news from your doctor, or that you were going to lose your job, or something else, and it never happened?

The solution for worry and anxiety is just like the solution for anything else - prevent it from happening in the first place! If you consider how many things you’re anxious about now that probably never happen, you get the first step toward the cure for worry and anxiety.

You might begin to argue with that by pointing out bad things that did happen - maybe you did get bad news from your doctor or you did lose your job, or something else. Remember though that bad things are a part of life, yours, mine, and everyone else’s.

You should remember that you’re not the only person in the world to suffer from bad health or unemployment or whatever else your worries are. A major part of the cure for worry and anxiety is to put your own worries in perspective. You survived these incidents, didn’t you? The doctor might have given you bad news, but chances are there were different treatment possibilities he or she gave you as well. If you lost a job, you found something else pretty soon, right?

Another solution of the cure for worry and anxiety is to put things in perspective. No matter if you’re dealing with some terrible trauma or circumstance, this too will pass eventually. Really, is there a way to change the future by worrying and feeling anxious? Will it change anything by being anxious?

We all can only plan for the future as well as we can and then ride out the worse times while waiting for the better times. If you figure how useless these feelings are, then you’ll be well on your way to finding the cure for worry and anxiety in your own life.
