Moving can be really fun, but there is still a lot of stress that comes with the job. I think the worst for me is packing everything up and loading it into the truck. With all that is going on, and all the things you have to do, sometimes we dont put all the time we need into packing and fragile items, like glass.

The worst thing to do is quickly pack everything up without really paying attention to what we are doing. It is usually situations like that that we find that after the move, when we open our boxes, our glass is broken. Here are some tips that Ive been able to find to make sure that our glass makes it safety to our new house.

We all know that we have to have good padding or cushion for our glass items. This you can find at the store or even in your home. Newspaper is a great idea because you already have it, and it works so well.

Next, depending on what type of glass you are wrapping, find a box or telescoping carton that is right for the size and shape. If you pack you glass with a lot of other items you can forget to mark it or it can get broken during the move from loose items that are packed with it. I will actually keep the original boxes that I bought them in, as well as the packaging to make sure that they are packed safely.

If you have a lot of glass cups that you are packing, it is always best to individually wrap each of them. Then, make sure that there is enough packing in between them so that they can hit each other. Make sure that there is just enough cushion to keep everything in their place.

Never use tape to tape certain glass items together. The tape will leave a sticky residue that will take long hours of hand washing to take it off. Just wrap things up tightly.

Mark all fragile boxes. This may sound like a no brainer but you will be surprised at how many times youll forget when all the packing starts. Its so important to have these things marked for yourself or for those that are helping you move.
