Aggressive dogs pose a frightening and at times dangerous dilemma. Luckily, if you dog undergoes aggressive dog training, many of the problems can quickly go away.

Dog’s bite millions of people every single year. For a number of different reasons, children are those that suffer the majority of dog bites.

There are many different factors that may cause your dog to become aggressive, these include their normal environment and the fact that they can inherit these traits. In some cases, such as with the Akita or the American Bulldog, dogs are pre-disposed to being more aggressive. In other situations of aggressive behavior, it is usually because dogs are pack animals and it is normal for one dog to take the leader of the pack position, therefore they will try to establish themselves as the leader by use of aggressive behaviors.

The first step in resolving dog aggression is to fully understand the problem and what’s causing it. You will then be able to teach your dog not to succumb to these aggressive tendencies. You should also make sure your dog respects you, the best way to gain respect is by cementing your place as the Alpha Dog. Your dog will then be much more likely to follow your leadership and give you less problems.

Dogs might be aggressive due to being afraid or out of their comfort zone. Other common situation where dogs are aggressive is when they are trying to protect their homes, or when they come face to face with another dog of the same sex.

The first thing you must do in order to stop the dog from being aggressive is to start your dog socializing with other dogs and people as soon as you can. Some people say that the trainings should not start till your dog is over a year old; however it would be much better to start this training while the dog is roughly about 3 months old. If the problem is in an adult dog then you will need to learn some aggressive dog training ideas for older dogs.

Regardless of how serious your dog’s aggression is, it can be trained. Being consistent and persistent in your training method will be one of the keys to success. It is also extremely important that you secure your position as the Alpha Dog. Make sure you also use positive reinforcement and give your dog mild praise when he has completed a given task. Little by little your dog will learn that good behavior is what you want and will strive to give that to you.

Finally, aggressive dogs do pose a real danger and training should be done with precaution. If you ever feel overly threatened, the best thing to do is to get your dog to a vet as soon as possible. There may be some illness that is resulting in the aggression or you may need a professional trainer to assist you.
