Book clubs are subscription programs, in which you receive a book each month by mail. The editor of the book club selects a book each month that they feel their subscribers would really enjoy. You can then usually choose to accept their choice, or opt out of the book choice for that month.
A book club is a great proposition for avid readers and book lovers. Book clubs also make it easy to shop for gifts. As a member of a book club, you can specify the type of books you wish to receive, such as mystery and romance novels, or books about history or politics. You will then be informed on the release of these books.
One of the reasons many people join book clubs is because of the convenience that it provides. You don’t have to take a lot of time out of an already busy schedule to drive to the store and try to select something that would interest you. If you’ve joined a book club that carries the type of books you are interested in, you can just choose to go with their recommendations, which include many award winning books.
If you don’t want the book, simply let the book club know before their deadline date. You can usually opt out of books you don’t want online.
Book clubs usually offer promotions or incentives when you join, such as free books or gifts with your purchase. You also get to hear about the latest in books and their reviews in the book world. This will help you keep up on the latest books.
The disadvantage with book clubs is that shipping can be expensive, as you will have to pay shipping costs on each book that is sent. Moreover, in some book clubs, you may end up paying for books you don’t want if you forget to send your reply form in on time.
Additionally, most book clubs have a minimum number of books that you must buy the first two years. Be sure to check what the membership requirements are before you join.
Overall, a book lover will enjoy being a member of a book club. You just have to ensure that you only buy books that you need and will read.
