I wouldnt be surprised to hear that youve been frustrated by the apparent lack of guitar strumming lessons available for beginners on the web.

I’m not sure why guitar sites are so intent on covering chords and completely neglect the topic of strumming. As we all know, chords make up only one side of even the most basic guitar playing. Beginners need to have quality guitar strumming lessons in order to complete the picture.

You will find some good quality sites which realize the importance of providing guitar strumming lessons targeted at beginners but more sites need to fix the imbalance.

Video sharing sites such as You Tube will have some strumming lessons but to date I’ve found these to be of poor quality and wouldn’t recommend learning from them.

So how do we find where these quality guitar strumming lessons actually are? The only way is to investigate the websites you visit closely enough to see whats covered before taking membership, even send them an email to ask specifically.

Interestingly, strumming patterns on guitar can be the most difficult part to learn for some guitar beginners. Its especially hard if you have an underdeveloped sense of rhythm or worse, no sense of rhythm of all.

In my teaching practice Ive seen some students who genuinely had no sense of rhythm and come to me specifically for guitar strumming lessons. Its bad news since actually its one of the hardest things to teach, they know all their chords but cant hear or feel if they are in or out of time!

Let’s say that you do have a perfectly normal sense of musical time, it’s going to be fun learning these song patters with good quality guitar strumming lessons.

Now for the good news. It’s not necessary for you to learn hundreds of strums to match with hundreds of songs, in fact, quite the opposite. With a system of just 4 - 6 universal strums you’ll have everything you need to play all the songs you want. Find some decent guitar strumming lessons and you’ll find your frustration at not being able to play songs disappear very quickly.
