There are many disputes that surround the existence of the new addition to the dog breed world, the Golden Labrador. Hearing its name, you might think that this breed is either a golden colored Labrador or a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Labrador Retriever. One of these assumptions is true while the other is not.
But the term golden-colored Labrador holds conflicts between Labrador enthusiasts and the official kennel clubs. Could it be possible that the supposed golden Labrador is just actually a yellow variant of the Labrador Retriever? The experts warn, however, that there is no such breed as a golden-colored Labrador so it is best not to believe this hype.
There are only three colors accepted for the Labrador Retriever and these are: black, chocolate and yellow. Golden is an unacceptable variant and is said to be non-existent. Golden-colored Labrador is a name supposedly coined by breeders who found a strong-yellow-colored Lab in from a Labradors litter.
There are people who claim that there are new and rare variants of Labrador Retrievers and breed authorities give warnings to unsuspecting buyers that these claims are considered scams. Some buyers who are fooled by the convincing insistence of golden Labrador” breeders are surprised to realize that the puppy or dog they have bought are no different from the yellow Labrador. Some scammers even claim that the golden variety of the Labrador has been verified through DNA testing by experts but there is no truth to this.
Now that the golden-colored Labrador has been proven wrong, the only truth behind the existence of a Golden Labrador is the fact that it is a crossbreed between the Golden Retriever and the Labrador Retriever. These parent breeds are without a doubt excellent pets and have millions of enthusiasts combined around the world. But this new hybrid, albeit a newcomer, is slowly starting to have its own set of followers around the world, too.
Generally, a crossbreed of two or more purebreds will come out having the different traits, both physical and temperament, of the parents. The distribution, however, will not likely be 50-50 but could be 40% from one parent and 60% from the other; depending on how much did the hybrid inherit. The characteristics of the hybrid may be inherited from both parents or could be its own developed character.
For instance, the Golden Retriever is famous as a waterdog and is known as an outstanding swimmer. The Golden Labrador may not necessarily inherit this trait and its possible even that it will be a poor swimmer. As for the Labrador Retriever, this breed is known as the most desirable pet in the US and is a great sniffer of sensitive things such as drugs and explosives.
The Golden Retriever may inherit this efficient nose of the Lab but in some cases, it may completely not possess this skill, too. Moreover, a hybrid may come out manifesting an apparent likeness from one parent while less from the other parent. Physically, the hybrid may inherit a great deal of likeness from one parent but only a little from the other one.
