No matter what physical shape you are in, most people groan at the thought of starting another one of the ab workouts. Not only you feel like the area from your chest to hips is being slowly pulled apart, but it’s difficult to think that the ab workouts are actually providing results! Here are some tips to help maximize your workout and still let you be able to move during the day:

TRY SOME WORKOUTS THAT REQUIRE YOU TO FACE THE FLOOR.

As much as the thought of a possible face plant might worry you, any one of the ab workouts that has you face the floor will make you work those abs harder. When you add movement to lying prone (trainer noise for face first) your abs must work a lot harder to keep your from smashing your face onto the floor. Some of the better prone exercises are power wheel pikes, knee ins, and crawls.

However, if you’re just starting out, these may be a bit much, so don’t try to add them all at once to your ab workouts. Try for one, and when you’re feeling like Superman, add another.

ADD CARDIO TO YOUR AB WORKOUTS

Most people are just too busy to spend hours at the gym. By incorporating a few cardio moves to your ab workouts, you’ll be able to help get rid of that tummy trouble faster.

Try to add some jump rope routines or cardio sprints. As soon as you’re done with the ab workout and you just want to lie on the floor in pain, get your butt up off the floor and move.

Not only will it help to ease the pain the next day, you will get great ab benefits as well. Combining cardio with your ab workouts should help speed along the results to help keep you motivated and moving.

USE A RESISTANCE BAND

Resistance bands help blast away fat and work your abs. When you use your entire body with the bands, your abs must work harder to help keep you from slamming into a wall or another person in the gym. Actually, sometimes, you can attach the band to a partner and your abs will work even harder against the resistance to keep you from smashing into each other.

TAKE TIME TO REST THOSE AB MUSCLES

When you’re beginning one of the ab workouts, take time to rest after a grueling workout. Now is not the time to try and set the world record for sit-ups. If you can’t move the next day, you’ve done too much.

It’s much harder to stay motivated when your abs are screaming at you. Take time to rest a day at the beginning, between your ab workouts. When you are more comfortable after the workout the next day, you can try to incorporate another ab training day into your workouts.

Ab workouts can be grueling. No one likes to do them. But the above tips will help you start seeing results quicker and maybe that will help you to keep going.
