Early in life I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility. I chose honest arrogance and have seen no occasion to change. Frank Lloyd Wright brings up an interesting dilemma, particularly for Christians these days. Our world prides itself on individuality and personal achievement, and it sometimes seems that when we try to follow God’s commands to humble ourselves to the Lord, we are just being hypocritical.
Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble, when your perfect in every way. I can’t wait to look in the mirror, cause I get better looking each day. The reason this popular song by Mac Davis is so funny is that it contains a large grain of truth. Our world today is so committed to self actualization, achievement and success that it IS hard to be humble. That’s a bit hard for Christians, because the Bible commands us throughout to do just the opposite and humble ourselves to the Lord. How can we do that?
How well does the creation account in the Bible stand up compared to the account of creation given by modern scientists? Very well. The 31 verses that start with light forming and ends with the appearance of mankind are in agreement with modern scientific discoveries.

TRUST IN GOD with all your heart, all your mind, and let Him lead You. Don’t look at the things of this world. Look at God. Watch Him. He is perfect in everyway and He is always there when You need Him.
A lot of people are having a tough time coming to terms with the economic problems we are facing. A lot of what we had always believed has been questioned, and it is hard to admit that things we have always been sure of like a good job or stable future are no longer certainties.
It has been a hard year for a lot of people. The economic problems our country is facing has turned what a lot of us believed upside down. It is tough to come to terms with the fact that what we were always so “sure” of ” a steady job, a retirement fund for the future…are gone, just like that.
Psalm 46:1 God is my refuge and my strength, a very present help in trouble.
Proverbs 3:5 tells us “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding.” This is probably one of the most difficult instructions to follow. Just why is it so hard for us to totally trust God and stop trying to figure out things for ourselves? We always try to handle things on our own and leave God totally out of the mix. If we would just trust in the God who made us, loves us and has the absolute best for us, we would be so much better off.
Not long ago I heard about a lady that had lost a ton of money because she had met someone who convinced her to invest her money in their company. The company, as it turned out, was nonexistent. The lady had fallen prey to a scam. She had trusted in someone who was not who they said they were and in something that was not real.
In today’s society, especially with the economy like it is, with doom and gloom headlines in the newspapers, on the internet and on the evening news, anxiety is a very present and common state. We have become major worry warts. We spend so much time worrying that we are virtually worrying away our lives. Worrying about what others think, worrying about what we will wear, worrying about bills, about taxes, about government, about tests, about mistakes we made or might make, worrying about our future or our kid’s future, worrying about our friends, our family, even about who will win the Superbowl, or over how we look, or how popular we are or aren’t. We are literally worrying ourselves sick.
Do you remember the Golden Rule? We used to be taught it in school. It goes like this — “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” I heard that so much growing up. Treat others the way you want to be treated is a pretty amazing, a pretty profound bit of advice. Advice worth adhering too.
The past year has challenged a lot of people’s beliefs as we try to deal with the current economic conditions. It is hard to realize that things like a secure future and stable job are no longer guaranteed.
The other day I was reading the story of David and Goliath. Now if you are like me, then you have heard that story countless times. But in my reading the other day, the Lord revealed some truths, and gave me some insight that I had never gotten from the story before.
A few weeks ago God gave me a very sobering word for our country. The message was entitled; A Nation Cut Off. In this message I drew a parallel line from the ancient history of the nation of Israel and the United States of America.
The word of God tells us very clearly in several […]
